AI DISCLOSURE AND INFORMED USE NOTICE
The Evolved Caveman Inner Leadership AI Coach
Effective Date: March 30, 2026 | Last Updated: March 30, 2026
1. Purpose of This Disclosure
This AI Disclosure and Informed Use Notice (“Disclosure”) is provided by Evolved Caveman AI, LLC (“Company,” “we,” “our”) to ensure you understand the nature, capabilities, and limitations of The Evolved Caveman Inner Leadership AI Coach (“AI Coach”) before and during your use of the product. This Disclosure is required under California law, including Assembly Bill 489 (AB 489) and Senate Bill 243 (SB 243), and reflects our commitment to transparency.
2. You Are Interacting with Artificial Intelligence
The AI Coach is an artificial intelligence system. You are not communicating with a human being.
The AI Coach is powered by a large language model (currently Claude, developed by Anthropic). When you submit a message, the AI Coach processes your input alongside proprietary system instructions and a curated knowledge base developed by Dr. John Schinnerer, Ph.D. The model then generates a response. No human reviews or approves individual responses in real time.
This disclosure is presented to you at the beginning of each session and is available at all times within the product.
In compliance with California AB 316, the Company assumes responsibility for all AI Coach outputs. The Company has implemented system-prompt-level safeguards, content filters, and a Crisis Prevention and Safety Protocol to reduce the risk of harmful outputs. The Company does not disclaim its responsibility for AI-generated content by attributing harmful outputs to the AI system’s autonomous behavior.
3. What the AI Coach Is
The AI Coach is an educational and personal development tool designed to help adult men:
- Build emotional self-awareness and self-command
- Develop stronger communication and relational skills
- Understand stress, anger, and reactivity patterns
- Navigate identity, meaning, and life transitions
The AI Coach’s content and coaching frameworks were developed by Dr. John Schinnerer, who holds a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology from UC Berkeley and operates as an educational and performance coach. The AI Coach delivers structured coaching conversations based on these frameworks.
4. What the AI Coach Is Not
The AI Coach is not any of the following, and should never be used as a substitute for any of the following:
- Therapy, counseling, or psychotherapy. The AI Coach does not provide clinical treatment, therapeutic interventions, or any service that requires a state-issued healthcare license. No therapist-client or clinically regulated professional relationship is created by your use of the AI Coach.
- Psychiatric or medical care. The AI Coach does not diagnose medical or mental health conditions, recommend medications, or provide medical advice of any kind.
- Crisis intervention or emergency services. The AI Coach cannot provide emergency support, coordinate medical interventions, contact emergency services, or replace a crisis hotline.
- A licensed professional of any kind. In compliance with California AB 489, the AI Coach does not represent itself as a licensed psychologist, therapist, counselor, social worker, psychiatrist, or any other licensed healthcare provider. Dr. Schinnerer’s Ph.D. is an academic credential in Educational Psychology; it is not a clinical license.
- A replacement for human connection or support. The AI Coach is a tool to supplement, not replace, your relationships, support networks, and professional care.
5. Limitations of AI-Generated Content
You should be aware of the following limitations when using the AI Coach:
- Accuracy. AI-generated responses may contain factual errors, misinterpretations of your input, or recommendations that are not appropriate for your specific situation. The AI Coach is not infallible.
- Context. The AI Coach does not know your full personal history, medical background, or current circumstances beyond what you share in conversation. Its responses are based on limited information.
- Emotional understanding. The AI Coach uses pattern recognition to interpret your messages. It does not experience emotions and may fail to recognize the full emotional weight or nuance of what you are communicating.
- Crisis detection. While the AI Coach includes safety protocols designed to detect and respond to expressions of distress or self-harm ideation, these protocols are not guaranteed to catch every instance. If you are in crisis, do not rely on the AI Coach — contact a qualified professional or emergency service immediately.
When the AI Coach’s crisis safety protocol is triggered, it will:
- Stop the current coaching conversation;
- Acknowledge your distress without judgment;
- Clearly state that it is an AI and cannot provide emergency or clinical support;
- Display the crisis resources listed in Section 6; and
- Encourage you to contact a trusted person or professional immediately.
The AI Coach cannot call 911 on your behalf, cannot stay with you after the session ends, cannot verify whether you have contacted a crisis resource, and cannot follow up with you after a safety event. These are inherent limitations of an automated system.
When the AI Coach’s crisis safety protocol is triggered during a conversation, the Company logs the occurrence of the trigger event, the timestamp, and the AI Coach’s safety response. This logging is required for compliance with California SB 243 and is described in further detail in the Privacy Policy. These logs are retained for a minimum of three (3) years and do not include the content of your conversation.
- Independent judgment. You are responsible for evaluating AI Coach outputs and making your own decisions. The AI Coach’s responses are suggestions and frameworks for reflection, not directives.
6. If You Are in Crisis
If you are experiencing suicidal thoughts, self-harm ideation, or a mental health emergency, please contact one of the following resources immediately:

These resources are also available in the AI Coach’s Help section at all times. If the AI Coach’s safety protocol detects distress in your conversation, it will provide these resources directly within the conversation.
Beginning July 1, 2027, as required by California SB 243, the Company will publish annual reports on how often crisis safety protocols were triggered and how they performed. These reports will not identify individual users.
7. Your Responsibility
By using the AI Coach, you acknowledge that:
- You understand that you are interacting with an AI system, not a human coach, therapist, or healthcare provider.
- You are solely responsible for any decisions or actions you take based on AI Coach outputs.
- You will seek qualified professional help for any clinical, medical, psychiatric, or emergency needs.
- You will not use the AI Coach as a replacement for professional mental health care or crisis intervention.
- You exercise independent judgment in evaluating any information or suggestions provided by the AI Coach.
- If the AI Coach produces a response that you believe is harmful, inaccurate, or inappropriate, you are encouraged to report it to John@GuideToSelf.com. The Company logs and reviews all reported safety incidents.
